Which is exactly what the folks at Sony have done with their high-definition televisions, because yesterday (Sunday June 19th), the electronics firm revealed that it has created two new lines featuring a total of five brand new sets.
These BRAVIA Silicon X-tal (Crystal) Reflective Display (SXRD) micro-display HDTVs (bit of a mouthful, but still, great tellies) all come complete with Motionflow 120Hz high frame rate technology and are really slim to boot.
Firstly, the A3000 line has three models, including the 50-inch KDS-50A3000, the 55-inch KDS-55A3000, the 60-inch KDS-60A3000, all with cabinets which are 20 per cent thinner than their predecessors.
And then there's the XBR micro-display line, which is comprised of two new sets, the 60-inch KDS-Z60XBR5 and the 70-inch KDS-Z70XBR5, both with cabinets which are a whopping 40 per cent thinner than their predecessor models.
Randy Waynick, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' home products division, commented: "Going bigger is not a compromise with Sony SXRD micro-displays.
"With slim cabinets, advanced features like high frame rate and full HD 1080p resolution, SXRD TVs give consumers who want big picture impact exactly what they have been looking for."
